SIPITANG: Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (Sogip), which has attracted high-impact investments, is expected to begin operations in 2026 and 2027, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
He said that among the investments is Esteel Company’s phased green steel plant project, valued at RM20 billion, and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), which will develop a floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility valued at RM8.8 billion.
He added that other investments include E-Concern Sdn. Bhd.’s RM1 billion waste management project and Tex Evolosi Waste Management Sdn. Bhd.’s RM70 million project.
"All the companies I mentioned will commence operations in 2026 and 2027.
"These investments will create job opportunities as early as the construction phase and during operations.
"Undoubtedly, the people of Sipitang and its surrounding areas will benefit across various economic sectors.
"I am fully confident that with the synergy of political leaders, government machinery, and the people in Sipitang, we will achieve greater development and success in this district," he said during the launch of the Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Traditional Food Carnival in conjunction with the Kadayan Sabah Harvest Festival 2024 at the Top Ten Field near here on Saturday.
State Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif delivered his speech.
