KOTA KINABALU: Sabah continues to be attractive to foreign investors, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said that foreign investors were seeing huge potential in various economic sectors in the state.

Among the sectors that were preferred by foreign investors were oil and gas, energy, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, manufacturing and others.

"The State Government welcomes foreign investors who are interested and ready to invest in Sabah, to see and develop the potential sectors in this state which is rich in natural resources and has a beautiful environment," he said after receiving courtesy calls from ambassadors and High Commissioners from China, (Ouyang Yujing), Brunei Darussalam (Brig Jen (R) Datuk Paduka Mahmud Saidin) and Bangladesh (MD Golam Sarwar).

Hajiji also expressed hope that foreign tourists especially from China, Brunei and other foreign countries would continue to choose Sabah as their tourism and holiday destination.

China ambassador Yujing also informed Hajiji that Sabah was very popular among the Chinese people because of its natural beauty.

Yujing hoped that the state government and tourism operators in Sabah would hold more promotions in major cities in China to attract more tourists from China to Sabah.

He said some sectors that could potentially be explored by investors from China in Sabah were the oil and gas industry, energy, agriculture, fisheries, digital economy, and high-tech industries among others.

Yujing also said that there was also potential for China's engineering and construction companies to explore potential in infrastructure development like ports, airports, and highways.

He said he would bring Chinese multinational engineering and construction companies that have been established in Kuala Lumpur to explore investment opportunities in the state.

Yujing also invited Hajiji to lead the Sabah delegation to visit China.
